| The artwork I create is an
embodiment of disclosure, growth, and reflection. The images are a visual
manifestation of wrestling with
the human condition and truth. The work faces fears,
spells out hopes, and dives into joy and sorrow. The images
puzzle, humor, intrigue, and point to the odd elements that make up life;
these often disparate events that through the hands of grace shape
us into who we are.
Technically my work expresses that I am a
painter at heart but enjoy immensely the dialog that can come about when
combining a painting with three dimensional elements. I see the
frame as a sculptural component that plays into the content of the image
giving additional information and insights.
Whether using objects, toys, or people I
consider the work figurative, and these figures act as players within an
analogy or concept as a whole. They are representations of the
human soul; characters made out of this experience, that piece of
genetics, and those influences of contemporary American culture.
They hope, chuckle, fear, dream, hide, or ramble through the work.
We grapple with what it is to be.
The work is about that place of "being". |
